Chapter 90: Hasten

"Behold, I will hasten my work in its time."

A week spent pretty much in Ireland! Conferences went well; as always it was good to spend time with the missionaries over there since it's hard to see them as often as we would like. They are some of the greatest men I know and I am grateful for their examples to me. After the conferences myself, Elder Lambert and Elder Yorgason traveled over west to Cork and Limerick to do some work on new flats we've purchased in the Republic of Ireland, all before heading up north to Belfast, stopping in Mullingar and Dundalk to do the same.

The time in Belfast with the Zone Leaders for exchanges was great; I had the privilege of working with Elder Walters for the day going around neighborhoods doing door harvesting. Through our earnest prayers and the miraculous grace of God we were able to find some new people for them to work with, even making really good contact with some members who haven't been out to church in a while. We had prayed specifically to find an Irish young adult who we could teach the Plan of Salvation to, which we found. I have this witness and countless others that Heavenly Father is real.

In a more general sense than these experiences this week, in my studies and quiet time, I felt time press very heavily it's passing in ways I haven't before while on my mission. With a lot of driving and in-between time, it has become apparent that I need to increase in my commitment to having my eye single to the glory of God. I have felt the Spirit teach me truths about my potential and as such, he has made it clear all the many things I need to be better at now.

If I am to truly have a mind and heart which are single to God, then I need to fill both my mind and heart with things that are righteous. I have a desire to fulfil the command 'to cease to be idle' and try and use the spare time I have to read my scriptures and hopefully finish the standard works before I return home, or get very close. I wish to be better equipped in order to resist the devil, following the example of the Saviour in His temptations in the wilderness. Like He was, I am working to be so accustomed with the scriptures that I can say in any situation, "it is written" and then expound on why I should or should not do something.

Thus is the hastening. I have learned many things, and I hope to learn all things in my power to learn. I feel God has given me opportunities beyond measure to come to know Him, and that he has hastened the work which he has for me to do. I will do my best in giving my all to follow such a commission.

Life is good.

God is wise.
